 Timorous Beasties are the Glasgow-based designers Alistair McAuley (*1967) and Paul Simmons (*1967). Both studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and Paul Simmons went on to study at Royal College of Art. They design and manufacture their own fabric and wallpaper designs and run a shop on the Great Western Road in Glasgow, Scotland.
Talking Cities shows the „Glasgow Toile“. By depicting uncompromisingly and ironically urban and dystopian contemporary images on traditional textiles and wallpapers, Timorous Beasties explore social and political issues of the urban landscape, connecting them to the images of the romantic 19th century rural idyll.
