Aglaia Konrad (*1960) is an artist and photographer based in Brussels, Belgium. She studied at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht where she is now a consultant researcher. In 2003 Konrad received the Camera Austria Prize from the city of Graz.

For her project „Desert Cities“, Aglaia Konrad took photos of the residential cities that were built from 1979 in the desert surrounding Cairo. Interested in the social, economic, historical and political effects of architecture and urban planning, she digs deep into the cultural side effects of global urban programmes, that never quite made it to acceptance or completion. Talking Cities features two projections of that project in an exclusivly designed black box, accessible from two sides.
