are the Rome-based architects Carmelo Baglivo (*1964), Luca Galofaro (*1965) and Stefania Manna (*1969). Their multi-disciplinary agency aims to be a place where the theory and practice of architecture overlap and meet, to redefine the concept of territory as a relational space between the landscape and its human user. Construction and building, seen as an open and variable arena, must usher in a permanently repeated encounter between subject and programme.

Talking Cities is presenting the “Urban Voids” project in which IaN+ approach the issue of the Grande Raccordo Anulare, the ring road on the periphery of Rome. This place of transit, which acts as a borderline between the historic core city and the rapidly growing peripheral areas of Rome, is documented and analysed in the exhibition, by means of models, photographs and two films. In dealing with this “new city wall” between the two realities of Rome, IaN+ suggests conserving empty spaces for a city to come, which will then convert these voids: a radical, polemic suggestion in ensuring the necessary space for a “city of the future”.
