are Luc Deleu (*1944), Laurette Gillemot (*1946), Steven Van den Berg (*1974) and Isabelle de Smet (*1973). Based in Berchem. T.O.P Office was founded in 1970 and specialises in architecture and urbanism.
T.O.P. office are on the search for another form of urban development, in particular one that is critical, sociological and ecological; that breaks with conservative attitudes. They are looking at ways of developing an urbanistic “order that could integrate ad hoc life and human chaos” to create fundamental new ways of living (together).
In 1995, Luc Deleu and his office began building a series of utopian town planning models, and the exhibition “The Unadapted City” makes tangible this vision of reduced city planning in favour of a maximum of personal freedom. TALKING CITIES is presenting the latest model in this series, “VIP City: One Nautical Mile”, a 40-metre long model made of wood, styrofoam and paper.
